Jan 28, 2024

Passage: Job 1:1-42:16

Preacher: Hampton Sims, Children's Minister of FBC Sumrall

Category: Hope, Suffering

Detail:

Q:Why do we suffer?
A: Because of our sin. (Job 3-31) ...OR... Because of our need for sanctification. (Job 32-37)

Q: Where is God when we suffer?
A: He is present & still in control. (Psalm 46)

(1) Remember that the main character of the story is God, NOT Job.

(2) God's sovereignty is a greater story than Job's submission. (Job 38:4-11)

(3) Suffering draws us to a closer relationship with God. (Job 42:5-6; Romans 11:33-34)

(4) Our response to suffering is the message to the outside world that they can either trust God or they can't.

(5) Either God is sovereign over everything, or God is sovereign over nothing. (Romans 8:28)
